Maybe two maps, going to do a full map first, then maybe the divided. The divided routes include the elements I would do icons for. Let me know if the divided route map seems too complex. I'm thinking the full map would be a cover then the divided map would be then interior spread and the back cover would be the bottom graphic map map, so a four page front back piece?

There were actually dozens of routes, so if you try to do them all, you'll go nuts even quicker. But I do love what you are doing, it's going to be great!

Mountains, rivers and locations 80% done (bottom area still to do). Line art to do on Deserts, oasis, forests. I like to put type in early to help locate elements can easily turn on/off. May add icons for the Attrachtions (Caves, Grottos etc) Comments welcome.

It's looking good, but why are you not keeping the great idea of the long segmented parchement map?

Just a minor thing - Caspian Sea; not Capsian Sea.

    Thank Wraith, I'll fix that.

Update, some coloring and illustrative attractions along the mountains. More of those to do. I wish I could do all the line work first then color, but I'm still not confident that I'm always headed in the right direction with my line work, so I color to make sure it's working, I'm hopeful over time that I can do it this way,

I've added the commodities that each region has, I've started an outline of a Silk Road Trading Game, which I'll post soon that uses these commodities for trading.

I think your compass may be a bit off. The direction of the silk road was generally EW, and on your map it looks primarily NS. Maybe rotate the compass?

Are you making the raw material first, and then wrapping it up into a ribbon later?
