That is pretty breathtaking, madcow. I think really my only critique is that the dark outer glow around the smaller rivers makes them look too intense and dominating. Is there a way to fade out that glow the smaller the river gets?

I could rasterize the river shadows and manually go in and lighten them on the smaller sections or use a gradient over a layer mask of them to fade the effect. There is always a way! Thanks for the use of your eye for detail, I'll have a look at those.

Nice work there.I agree with Diamond on the river stroke. Also I'm not fan about the combination of hand-drawn mountains and caterpillar lines to show reliefs. It would be more consistent to use either hand-drawn stuff for all or caterpillar only for all.
