Hmm, still.
I think that using generators does have two specific advantages over doing things entirely in your head:
1. You uncover combinations that you might not have otherwise considered.
2. You have a proper random distribution of elements.
As an example, in my most-developed conlang, I found that eventually I had a hard time coming up with new words and I started to fear accidentally inventing the same set of words over and over again. (Or, conversely, not including homophones because I was worried about falling prey to those fears!) So what I did next was take the existing vocabulary of the conlang, come up with phoneme frequencies and a few rules as to which sounds can follow which other sounds, and write a random-word generator. I still reserve veto power over the random words, but I am more satisfied with the language and can produce translations much more quickly.
There are certainly shortcomings to the method, but it has its uses.

This exactly is the reason I sometimes seek inspiration from generators and other sources than just my own head. I've never tried to invent a language (my hat is off to you, sir), but even with just world-building I can relate to the fear of 'inventing the same thing over and over again'. Especially since in my case it does happen more often than I'd like to admit. I don't know. Some people seem to have an endless flow of creative ideas constantly pouring from their brain, and I envy them, but sadly my own seems to need a little outside kick every now and then.
Ah, oke, that's a different thing.
I thought you meant using a generator's stuff.
I can understand it when you look for inspiration or combinations you hadn't considered before.
Though imo the generators rarely come up with good and/or new stuff..
No argument there, I usually have to fish for quite a while before I come across anything that actually sparks an idea. But isn't that pretty much the case with anything creative? For every gem there's always a ton of crap to be found as well
Aight, haha.
I guess that's true.
Wonder who takes the time to put all that crap in generator though lmao.
