Are you going for one of your famous steampunk ambient map? Is that a kind of sand texture you're using?

No steampunk on this one; lots of cults and strange gods and thugees. The texture is made from a picture of river mud or something and then processed through photshop to look less photography.

It looks interesting! I probably don't do tests enough with textures. I'm curious to see your work on this.

A member here, Ascension, came up with this mountain style. It relies on cloud and difference cloud layers, lots of layer effects, and patience...

I've pared it down and modified it, but all credit to Ascension for pointing the way.

Here's some more color and rivers. Just a note, this is going to be printed at half the size it is here, so things will look a little pixellated most likely.

Here's somewhat of a style test, to try out a font and font placement. I'm not sold on this font; I wanted something more East Asian, but most of the fonts that give that 'feel' are unreadable in smaller sizes or with curved text.

This is the intended print size, by the way. As you can see, everything looks a lot tighter and crisper at this size.

The font looks pretty good to me. I don't know if that matches the feeling you have in mind but it's legible ( though you will probably to work on "canyon" word kerning a bit). I'm just not fond of the light beveled effect but that's a personal taste here.
    The colors looks great too

That's looking great Diamond! I love the colors and the folding paper map feel.
