Generating the background was mostly a matter of running a slight variation of the multi-resolution generation loop described in https://www.cartographersguild.com/a...chmentid=80066 using this mask:
    Fun-With-Wilbur_mask_sm.gif

I also put a little curved blob in the central part for a little interest inan otherwise empty spot. If I ever find the font that I used for the Wilbur icon way back in the mid 90's I will probably substitute a big W in there.

The coloring (leftmost band) is Wilbur's V2 shader, the lighting shader (the center band), and the Texture Shading shader (the rightmost band). The two other bands are a combination of those elements using multiply and opacity adjustments in Photoshop.

If I can find it, I'll switch the title over to the same font as was uses for the Wilbur logo. This change will render it even less readable, but the yellow outline on black text would then match the style of the Wilbur program icon. Making it less than RGB(255,255,0) would compromise the artistic integrity of the vision. Then again, I've already compromised by not making the interior of the text be solid black, so I might adjust the yellow slightly because folks keep commenting on it.

It turns out that the font in question is Futura Black. Maybe I'll have time to redo it before the deadline.
