@ Veldehar and SK : Thanks guys, at the start I hesitated a bit about making the lands darker but finally chose to keep the same background for both lands and sea.

And is there a tut for this kind of maps available?
I exactly searched for a style like this for one of my maps.

The map is digitally hand-drawn in photoshop. I didn't make some tuts about it but I'm sure you can find find useful tuts and tips here at the guild
