Do you paint greyscale and then place colour on top?

I tend to struggle with the colouring stage myself.

Thank you so much for your kind comments ! I didn't expect such excellent feedback on this first map, it's very promising ! I'm glad I managed to convey this sense of fun and playfullness... I guess it's probably because I also had a lot of fun while working on it.

That style will go well with many young adult books, so it should serve you well.
The stark contrast is definitely a plus for book printing.

There's clearly a lot of opportunities in these domains. I was also surprised by the amount of roleplayers and DMs looking for more lighthearted settings for their campaigns.

My painting process changed a lot with time, but you are right. These three versions are more or less the three steps I go through, but it's not static. I usually go back and forth between each step, fixing the line art here, the color there. I improvise a lot along the way.
