I need help with place-names for Pseudo-European map

Here is how Theah is represented. 7th Sea does quite a bit of condensing for its setting.

Avalon (The British Isles)
Castille (Spain)
Eisen (Germany/The remnants of the Holy Roman Empire)
Montaigne (France)
Ussura (Russia)
Vendel/Vestenmannavnjar (Denmark/Norse Viking Scandinavia/Holland mix)
Vodacce (Italy)
Crescent Empire (Iraq, Iran, Turkey, etc.)
Cathay (India and the Far East)

I've thought about basing my off of ancient currencies.

Livre = France
Maravedi = Spain
Florin = Italy
Gulden = Holland
Sterling = England
Feoirling (Farthing) = Ireland
Haller = Austria
Thaler = Czech
Groschen = Germany

But not sure about it.

Hi vgunn, for fictional place-names I would suggest you to start with toponymy (no offence, sorry if I misunderstood your request) Find suffixes and prefixes corresponding to what you want, ie (german) : -ach (river) Alt- (new) -burg (borough)...
Then complete the names with whatever you want (a proper name, an animal, a colour, your own imagination, etc.) : You should get something "language hearing feeling"
You should not constrain the nameplaces between their current boundaries : Your world have a history, there was invasions, immigrations, conquests, etc. Mix names and their spelling
Also, take in consideration that these names and their spelling have evolved : -burg is spelled -bourg in France for example. Castellum (Latin) gave old French "Castel", Spanish "Castello" then English "Castle". The suffixe "-cester", common in Great Britain, is borrowed from this word.
In summary : Search "toponymy" for different languages, use your imagination and have fun

For Italian use an ending like -ia , -a will make more belieaveable names for regions.

Example Italy its Italia , then some regions are Romagna, Toscana , Campania , Puglia , Umbria , Lombardia etc ... there are exceptions though like Lazio , Molise, Veneto etc...

Hello

I suggest that you look at Europa Universalis 4 (video game), the game start in 1444. At this time Europ is composed of many small countries with nice names.
As I'm french, I will do suggestion about France, most of them are from region names.

- Existing name -> transformed name
- Aquitaine -> Aquitanie
- Auvergne -> Avernie
- Bourbonnais -> Bourbonnois
- Bretagne -> Bretonnie
- Champenois (also name of a local language in Champagne)
- Flandres -> Flandres (I keep it because it not actually a true region but identify a zone in north of France and Belgium)
- Gascogne -> Gascogne (I keep it because it not actually a true region, but it is the birth zone of D'Artagnan)
- Languedoc -> Languedoc (In middle Age France were split in two by language : languedoc and languedoil : in north yes was said : "oil" and in south "yes" was said "oc". North dominate the south and "oil" become "oui", the actual name. Languedoc stay as a region name)
- Narbonnaise -> Narbonnais (Romans control most of the actual french territory, one of the biggest roman province was the Narbonnaise alos known as Septimanie)
- Normandie -> Region created by the king to offer it to allied vikings, "northman", became Normandy.
- Orléanais -> Orléanais, not really a official region, the Duc of Orleans was often a membre of the royal familly.
