I really like the style of the map, it looks really good, but I’m not a huge fan of the wood planks I thought the second version looked better.

The color of the wood background is much better, it complements the image instead of contrasts with it. Very nice progress.

Thanks for the kind words. It is still very much a WIP! I keep tinkering and changing things. I tried going back to a parchment background and that didn't work so went back to wood, but a darker grey instead of the reddish brown, and I think that works better to contrast the map.

I agree the redwood looks better. If you want something lighter perhaps a more blonde colored wood?

This is one of those maps where everyone has a different favourite - all of them good, but different. I think you very wise for deciding to take a break from it. Fresh eyes work wonders
