Even reality is only how we perceive it to be. So let your RV be a castle... or a space ship

You aren't doing anyone any harm by it, so why not?

This is coming on very nicely now. I must admit that I wish my RV-sized flat felt as large as your castle looks!

Hehe, yeah, I wish my RV were really the size that this is supposed to represent.

Ok, here's another update. I've almost finished the skirt wall. And a close up of what it looks like when zoomed in.

I think you need to do insets on this map to show off the detail you've worked so hard to achieve.

This is looking even better close up

And... what's happened to your avatar, Tony? Its gone!

Hmm. I may have to do that. If I can get the insets to work at the right size. Sorry about the Avatar Mouse. I wanted to show what I really looked like for a while but I'm always a bit nervous with pictures of myself online so I took it down.

I know what you mean. That's why I took down the profile photo I had of myself over a year ago. I much prefer the little painting I have from Chashio showing a flying mouse

Maybe choose an animal you like?

Its easy to miss you in the activity stream when you have no picture at all!

yeah, I should come up with something. I did the shield for a while but I grew bored of it. I would like to develop my own signature like I see so many others do but I can't think of anything that I would really like, or that I think represents me well.

So I decided that instead of doing my RV that I would do my town. So after doing the skirt wall for the town I set out to make some buildings. These are some tudor style homes I created in Perspectives 3. I made them by drawing out the shapes of the houses and putting bitmap fills on the walls. Then I grabbed some doors and windows from the Symbol Catalog and put them on the buildings. I made them into a Symbol Set for my CC3+ program and I can now use them as I do my regular Symbols.

Hopefully I will be able to come up with some good looking merchant shops and things like that. This is a close up of the houses.

Ok, so unless I spot something I need to change in this map between now and the close of the competition, I think this map is done. But since I changed what I was mapping can I get a mod to please change the name of my thread to Fantasy Ocean Shores? Thank you

Now to talk a little bit about this map. In reality there is no castle around Ocean Shores. Weirdly enough there are two giant cobblestone pillars though that look like miniature castle towers right at the front of the town. So of course that is what gave me the idea of making it a castle town. The names of the pubs are real. The reason there are so many coaching inn's is because I live in a tourist town that has around five thousand people that live here year round, but in the summer it swells to well over fifty thousand. Sometimes even more. This means there are a large number of hotels and bed and breakfast inns and motels and even a casino. The keep is not actually a part of the real town but its size is supposed to be large to represent the ego of the town council here. They think of themselves as very important people and puff themselves up all the time when dealing with the general public, so I figured they deserved their own keep.

Once you head out of town you run into the wooded areas where there are tons of houses but you can't really see them because they are tucked back in the woods. Also, the closer you get to the beach the larger the houses seem to get. So you see a lot of them with second level porches attached. In some cases there are houses three or four stories tall and each story has its own porch.

I really like how your town turned out. Your description is awesome. This is a much better direction than the RV, in my opinion. Good luck!

Thanks Elboe, I've looked at the map and decided I'm not sure if I like the way the waves are drawn. I think I'm going to go back and redo them. They might look better if they are more subtle.

I also forgot that there is a line of scrub trees or scrub land right near the edge of the water when the tide is in. So I'm going to go put that in too.
