    Things are getting worse and worse from the perspective of a vendor with a 20 year old piece of software; they are probably getting better and better for the rest of y'all.

    For that map, I generated 2 different landmass shapes and used them as a base to build on in PaintShop Pro X7 (image editing software).

    If you don't have an image editor like Photoshop, PaintShop Pro, etc., the GIMP is a very popular (and free) alternative. You can download it here: GIMP

    Then take a look in the Tutorials/How-To forum, here at the Guild. There are a number of excellent GIMP tutorials in there that should help to get you started.

    And what waldronate is referring to is Fractal Terrains. He's the owner/developer of that software. In addition to FT, he also has a free terrain generator: Wilbur

    That was actually very helpful. Thank you! I also already have GIMP (I think). I can use it and it is one of my favorite programs since literally childhood. I can think of a few things to do with it.
