    Hi Folks,

The map, apart from labelling and the key, is done.

    Hi Folks,

Here is my entry. I'm using Adobe CS4, Photoshop for the map and Indesign for the text & layout. Any pointers for adding a bit of polish, typo's etc would be more than welcome. Entries must be uploaded by May 1st.

I tried to attach the actual PDF file, which is only 1.2mb or something, and I kept getting n error message, "this PNG file has an incorrect extension" or "this PAM file has an incorrect extension", weird...unless there is something this forum doesn't like about PDF's created with indesign...

Looks pretty good - you have a problem with your hanging indents though - they tend to "mess up" when you have them alongside text wrap. You might wanna "bold" the room entries to make them stand out more, especially with no extra space after a room is finished.

I agree with Tilt on the text. It will make a HUGE difference if there's a gap between image and text. You could almost do it in one move by inching the map away from the text to the left just a bit.

or you can increase the text wrap in indesign on the image so the texts gets pushed away... and if the indents don't work then - give them a manual tweak

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll have a bit more of a play around tonight and see if I can adjust the indents etc. I'll also make the room labels bold as well as "Treasure" for the area 6.

    Hi Folks,

Took Mouse's & Tilt's advice and had a play around during my lunch hour; changed the wrapping options on the map and key; moved the map further to the left; got rid of the auto-numbered list and did it manually, hey, it's only eight items!; made the room entries bold and added a small space between paragraphs in the main text block and increased the font size to 9 points.

Looks heaps better and gets rid of a lot of white space. Thanks Guys.

I think I'm going to call this done!

    It does look better.

Have you considered moving the key over to the left under the map and making it a bit easier to read the information on the right by pulling it more into a rectangular block?

I don't mean that what you've done is wrong. I'm just posing a question for consideration

I most certainly can and most probably will. I didn't realise until after I posted that must have nudged the map portion up slightly so it's interfering with the intro text

Then when I re-loaded indesign to fix it, somehow I'd overwritten half of the map with a copy of the text block....AAARGH.

So, I'll have to fix it when I get home now as I have "clean" files on my Mac, bother & pendlegrast!
