Well, what can I say that hasn't already been said? Just absolutely dig you city maps.

I’m so happy people like this. I haven’t shared much in this slightly larger and more detailed style, so you never know how it will be received. Now I can continue with reinforced confidence 

I managed to get some more work done yesterday, so here is another update. On the left there is a small woodworks area.

So nice and so detailed, lovely... how long did you take to draw those houses?

Thank you so much Amanda91, Ramah, Bogie and Naima. And to answer your question Naima I haven’t tracked the hours, but it’s a slow style, so I think I have at least 15 hours (on and off) into this so far. But sketching takes the longest time.

Here is another update. I added a small smithy, rather different from the other buildings. It’s in a small fenced area, just to distance it from the surrounding houses. There are also four water barrels around the building, just to increase fire-safety. It’s a wooden town after all!

    Cheers,
    Karl

Looking great, Karl. I really like the little details, like the water barrels.

I've got a question: do you just sketch straight from imagination, or do you plan out each house in advance, or use Sketchup or something first?

This will be a beautiful town Karl. City maps always takes loads of time. No wonder you put so many hours in this. Great work so far.

Thank you Wingshaw and Voolf. Yea, city maps really can be time-consuming.

To answer your question Wingshaw for this map I sketch straight from imagination more or less, with some ideas what I have to include but not where or how. At this point I actually haven’t planned what the rest of the town will look like. Most often however I do have the majority planned

    Cheers,
    Karl
