If we go with new city (personally think a large town/small city works best because of the old Adventure Creating Addage, DON'T BUILD THE WHOLE WORLD FOR AN ADVENTURE THAT TAKES PLACE NO MORE THAN 5 MILES FROM THE VILLAGE)

A new city is perfectly fine with me. Is it still going to be associated with the CWBP? The more generic the better, I say; I'm good either way.

So, I would love to start on the city, but need to know a few things (and most of these are adventure dependent):

    1. Style (Quasi Medieval/Arabic/Egyptian/etc?)
    2. Immediate Surrounding area (mountainous/hilly/farming w/wo irrigation)
    3. Needed features (Market/Military Garrison/Castle/Keep/temples etc)

Other features as I think of them.

I'm not sure about the surrounding areas, but A market for sure (it's festival time in the city) and a medium sized castle (If were still going for the same story idea this would be the capital of the kingdom so it would have a castle) and some sort of garrison (Royal Guards at least and probably some mounted patrols and such) and a few temples are always nice.

A quick note from me just dropping by: we are going with a standard fantasy setting, concerning the surroundings we have to look at the region map, in addition to what jtougas said I think a small arena

OK, just an aside, even though we are dealing with a King, the city does not need to be the capital. It could be the seat of a Major Noble, be the location of the Summer/Winter court, etc.

thats not a bad idea - we'll make him visiting a duke that lives close to the area where the cup ritual shall take place. That way we can leave the "capital" mapping to a later and more powerful adventure

Where are we at for the City Location? It helps me to get a feel for the city style if I can picture the surrounding terrain.

I'm thinking maybe farmland that gives way to forest.
