What are the series of random-ish colored dots in the N, S, E, and W streets?

The scale seems a bit odd. Your entire city is not even close to a mile across according to your scale, which seems odd for an "Imperial City." It also seems like there are a ton of houses packed together for a span of 400 feet. I am aware that a lot of these are hovels for the poor, but still. . .

There are very few roads for a whole city, and the ones that ARE there are REALLY WIDE.

The dots are market tents. I realized after I added the scale that it was very very wrong. I actually forgot about it until you mentioned it. Thanks I'll make sure to fix it. As for the roads I tend to just let the negative space in between buildings define the roads. It isn't perfect but it gives me the "crowded" maze like effect that I enjoy in fantasy cities. The wide roads I imagined would be used for parades and other demonstrations of Imperial power.
