The only city I was worried about was the capital of the empire. It is located at the farthest west of the major landmass. The locations of everything else I don't really care.

Have you decided on a Mapstyle yet?

I've started with a giant rectangle that I will draw on. From there, I want to do a world map: northern, southern, eastern, and western hemispheres. I've got a framed copy of a Blaeu map that I'm using as inspiration (along with vorropohaiah's). I've downloaded GProjector and really like the Airy projection more than Stereographic.
