Then I would suggest a ruin of such a city landscape at that location. Where people have moved away for some reasons.

Looking good. Another nice map in a proven style.

About the Iberian Peninsula, that's a very unusual political configuration separating the Med from the Atlantic. The only similar division that I can remember was right after the Punic Wars, when the Mediterranean coast was Romanized and the rest was still barbarian. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fi...provincial.PNG
One day, the nations of Europe will wake up to the sleeping military behemoth in their midst, tremble in fear from mighty...Portugal!!

Right now, I'm struggling with labels. Damn Europe, I had far much place on the US map!

    Aw, no sea-level rise? :p
good point. Well, I've begin to worked on this setting before 1995, so... At that time, I was wondering if I should decrease the sea-level and add snow/ice due to a "nuclear winter". Anyhow, it's a mess with incoherent climates and crazy lands, but I didn't changed the coasts for practical reasons (mainly because I did paper maps at that time).

@Mapeando : this border is not "fixed" as some conflicts are still at work here. The war was initiated by the Muslim Confederation and by reaction, caused the formation of the "Holy Iberia".

I didn't indicate the ruins. For example, there are no more cities around the big Berlin Megalopolis, nor "Dresde", but ruins. Clearly, you have an idea in mind, could you develop it?

@THW : Thanks! More than Portugal, the mighty "Holy Iberia", allied with the Holy Kingdom (of France) and the Vatican (not really for the benefits of their citizens...).

Sure, I could... that region as a mega-city ... the idea is from here

Interesting project, thanks for sharing kortleggur.

A test on labels... I tried a smaller font and a different style than before. What do you think?

I added the frame and flags. I'm not really satisfied of the labels... I really would like to put everything on the map but it seems really hard. Well, I'll do some new tests.

May I suggest you try white or yellow labels with a dark outer glow that approximately matches the background color. The dark outer glow will help separate them from the background and yet fade into it so it won't look so obvious, and the light color will be very readable against the dark background.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion Chick, I really like it better this way .

Here's the result. I'm still not really satisfied about the numbers for the countries's names. I'm gonna put all the names I can on the map now.
