Yeah, when i had this place in mind, and started braininstorming in my head, I had not thought of that.(Some history teacher i am...forgetting about historical fortifications) But anyone who would sap or attack it would probably be in for a nasty suprise from the magically adept residents of the city, heh. One of the number fives seems to be a distinctly different color than the other numbers, though.

In a fantasy context, those would be carnivorous bushes, ideally with seek-and-destroy roots. Also useful for disposing of plague victims and enemies of the state. Saprophytes?Very nice artwork. On a lighter note, a bush with extremely sensitive and deep root systems might change color within a few hours after being disturbed.
