Wow, thanks guys I really appreciate those comments -

    Today is your day.
    You're off to Great Places!
    You're off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
    You can steer yourself
    any direction you choose.
You're on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go.

You'll look up and down streets. Look 'em over with care.
About some you will say, "I don't choose to go there."
With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet,
you're too smart to go down any not-so-good street.

And you may not find any
    you'll want to go down.
    In that case, of course,
you'll head straight out of town.

    It's opener there
    in the wide open air.

    Out there things can happen
    and frequently do
    to people as brainy
    and footsy as you.

And then things start to happen,
    don't worry. Don't stew.
    Just go right along.
    You'll start happening too.

Your map makes me want to go on a hike, that's a good sign.

    Wip

Added a few deeper canyons and cavities (more work on these to do ) see photo attached.
Added forest, was torn between this style and doing a stamp (like I did on Glacier Map) One possible problem with this style are individual trees on the ridges, not sure how I'll do this yet. My stick shrubs are probably too big now compared to the forest, will work on this.

Started coloring in bands, subtle will build up slowly. Comments critiques welcome.

Gorgeous linework there Snodsy! You've captured that sheer depth and perspective beautifully so I look forwards to seeing it grow!

Yowzah! Is this accurate to the canyon trail? It's an amazing piece so far.

No not exact more of a representation, there are elements that exist but not exact location and pathways.

I may be adding some "fantasy" elements for fun - there were some Hoodoos that looked like a castle to me - so there is a castle in this drawing, and some of the crevices (photo) that I may make more as a cave and some of the deep canyon, may be deeper in my drawing. The switchbacks in real life lead to WALL STREET, an 80' narrow passage, which I haven't depicted yet.

If you ever get the chance , a trip here to Bryce and then Zion is well worth it, it's only a short trip from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon too (the less touristy side) and a few hours from Las Vegas.

It's looking gorgeous! I can't wait to see this fully coloured and shaded. And I love the idea of some extra fantasy elements!

Your landscape linework never ceases to amaze me snodsy. Awesome job so far! The coloring is spot on as usual. Your location maps really make me want to travel to the united states one day to see the fantastic landscapes (well... i'm glad my CG username isn't on my passport... think it could get difficult these days...)
