My first computer was a 386 as well. (Technically my first was a Tandy 2000... but we won't go there.) We put the math co-processor in ourselves. along with that 40MB hard drive we had a whopping 2MB of ram, which was expandable to 4MB. And the v.90 56k modem that only ran at 24.4K (on a good day, usually 14.4K) because of the phone lines we had...

Oh I had computers before that, but most were loaned to me to do projects at home. I knew a bit about D-Base and R-Base which was enough for a lot of companies to see me as an expert without having to pay someone thousands just to set up some simple data tables in the software that they'd bought from a salesman who told them it would run their company for them. So yeah, mainly stock control and address books, with simple ordering systems. Oh I remember one company being impressed with the quoting system I made for them as it allowed them to change the final job value to whatever they felt was appropriate.

If I'd have been more business savvy back then I may have been a lot richer, but it just never occurred to me that in the late 80s my skills were worth more than the cost of a few pints on a Friday night. I was selling myself short but I was just thrilled to have PCs at home to play with.

I still have a Norton Utilities 6.01 3.5" disk in my possession. Oh and a Samsung CD driver disk. Plus there are a few 'recordable' floppies.

My first ever computer was a Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K in 1983.

Atari...gah...that's twice in the same week I'm kicking myself for tossing my 1040st in the garbage a couple years ago. Whatever bug overrode my own hoarder instincts kicked in.

Jeff is my new best friend.

    Hi Jack,

As I suspected, we don't have the disks any longer but I've attached a zipped copy of the extracted files (19 MB). I have not yet had a chance to try them out in a DOSBox myself, but here is a thread on the forum that discusses one user’s setup tried under DOSBox:

I hope they work for you!

    Kind regards,
    Jeff
If I get it to work, I will attempt to make a map with it, just to say I did it.

Just so you know that it works:

And just an idea of what is possible with this 'state of the art' Technology here is one of the pre-made sample maps:

In between challenges and Guild City, I will attempt to make a 'decent' map with this.

Wow, I'm amazed you've got it to work! I definitely want to see you give it a serious try to see what kind of map you can make with it.

Simple playing around and the first think I noticed... there are only straight lines... so that example the outline of that entire map was done point to point with very short lines.

Edit: I found the curved line...
You would think I've never used this before...
