Hey eViLe_eAgLe, yes, you can only pick from the challenges Diamond has listed in the first comment, two from the Regular and one Lite.

This is interesting and a good amount of time, I'm busy wondering if I can make it dovetail with a project of my own that I've been thinking of. I think it can. I've been wanting to make a dwarf city which would be a multi-level map, set in the mountains, with a submerged bit where the underways got flooded.... So that's got: Map a Mountain Location, Submerged, and Verticality, covered. Got to do the prep before starting any thread though. It may well be beyond the scope of the time allotted, but it's worth a shot amiright?

Sounds perfect, Falconius! Will there be 3D modelling involved?

3D modeling is my crutch, so yeah, probably.

Wow! This is indeed an extremely challenging challenge I'll have to study the categories and rules to see what I can come up with. Excellent work Diamond and ChickPea for developing the idea into a working challenge

Everyone seems to be diving in with the Isometric idea, so I thought I'd just show you a useful resource here - a place where you can tailor your isometric grid to suit your requirements (if you don't already happen to have software that will do it for you)

    This is customgraph.com

EDIT: The graph you get is pdf, but you can open it no problem in GIMP, and I suspect the same is true of PS, which is 2 ways of converting it to a usable jpg or png

If I choose : "Urban mapping" and "campagn starter" in the regular challenge, I must use the little map that was given for "urban challenge" and make it the starting place of a campaigne.
And then, if I choose : "fun with isometric", I must draw this map in perspective.

Am I right with those ?

Wait, I just wondered. Does that mean with the 1-Urban (2- campaign starter) and the lite Isometric, do I have to include a topdown minimap with my Iso map? The map is going to have a city. But, I wondered about what you and JO talked about.

EDIT: OR if I take 1- Trading (Trading building or Trading ship) (2-Campaign Starter) and the lite Isometric, do I only have to flesh out the trading area of my map or do I NEED a top down mini map of the building or ship INCLUDED on my Isometric map? (This is important to know, otherwize without knowing I have to consider sitting this one out.)

Hey Xcali, you've got a couple of options, assuming you pick the choices you've mentioned.

Your map should be based on the layout provided in the 'Urban Mapping' thread. That's quite straightforward. You could then do a top down map and perhaps include an inset with an iso building that's also your 'Campaign Starter' place. Or you could do the full map in iso, and just indicate which building is the Campaign Starter place.

It's up to you how you work it, so long as you include 1) the layout provided in urban mapping, 2) some sort of isometric structure, and 3) a place that's the campaign starter. Hope that's clear!

About the Urban Mapping thread, I'm not planning on using it, but when I first browsed through it I was wondering if that layout could be used as a component in a larger map (such as an intersection in a bigger city map), or if the entire map has to be worked into what is there (which honestly could bring up more interesting results because it's more difficult)?

The map is going to be a ISO map which includes a city. The campaign starter is not too hard to understand. But, if I understand correctly then, that little picture, in the URBAN option, provides the layout I should add, or it requires me to have a mini map of my city layout somewhere on my ISO map?

If I go the trading route, the same question in a sense, do I need to add a small mini map to my ISO map. Or do I just need to flesh out vigorously my trading area in ISO?
