My thoughts, such as they are, would be to ask why the straw is there. I mean, stuff like that wouldn't grow in the caverns, so how did it get there? Unless, perhaps, the creatures that dwell within brought dried grasses in for nests or sleeping pallets?

There is a room with 4 beds. Well actually, the description says : hard pallets
which would look like this I guess : https://i.pinimg.com/originals/12/31...42eeb18a05.jpg
It's not mentioned if there is straw on the pallets but it would make sense.

Now the floor description says : straw scattered. Unless someone decided to just throw his bed around, I don't see why there is so much on the floor. You are right on that one.
The monster here and the section ahead are all humanoid. I doubt that zombies would be fed with that stuff.

well, if the description says it's straw scattered, then that would lend accuracy to the map... but my follow up question would be this: the fact that it's straw scattered, would come out in the description... would there be a need for the accuracy in the map itself?

If the straw is changed regularly, it would help to keep the floors clean and dry to have the straw there to soak up spit, urine, blood, and various other substances that find their way to the floor of a dungeon. Depending on how polished the stone is, the straw might be to prevent slipping. If the inhabitants run around barefoot, it would provide some insulation between a cold floor and their feet. Or maybe they just find it pleasing to the eye.

Straw, rushes, that sort of thing were traditionally brought in as a floor covering; it's serving a function somewhere between a wall-to-wall carpet and a doormat. Like a horses stall, you change out the straw regularly, although fortunately not because people are peeing in it. The straw just breaks down from being trod on and from mud/water brought in on footwear, spilled, etc.

Fresh cut straw also smells nice. You'll see cedar boughs uses for a similar purpose.

lol... I understand all that guys The questions I was posing were to give some thoughts to Azelor to help him decide on whether he was going to try to include the scattered straw in his map, that is all.

As Mr. B mentioned in my thread, there is, I think, a bit of room for interpretation. Some areas are very vaguely described leaving it up to the DM to add in extra details as he or she sees fit. Other than that the seems to be coming along fairly well so far. I am thinking there is gonna be some tough voting when the time comes.

There is something beautifully artistic in the lines you have drawn in the stone texture here, Azelor
