Nothing jumps out at me as being bad or wrong and I liked the "coastal shelf" thing you had going...but that's me and I'm probably the only one. The pass works fine since it goes with the other "hand-drawn" elements. All I can really suggest, and it's very minor at that, is that the mountain ring around the wastelands seems to be of uniform height so I would make the edges near the coast into hills. Nice job so far and I'll keep watching. Oh and as far as city placing/style, do either...it mixes scale but I did it on my Narthaine and Charadon maps.

Quick question - In the event of a crater, I would assume one side is steeper than the others. I'm guessing the inside is steeper than the outside. Is that correct?
The crater profile will depend largely on how large the crater is. For smaller craters, there will be a raised rim and a bowl-shaped inside. For large craters there will effectively be a flattish plain many miles in diameter with a centrail raised peak and a rim of mountains. The Chespeake Bay ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chesape..._impact_crater ) and Chixulub ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicxulub_Crater ) craters are examples of largish craters. http://www.lpl.arizona.edu/impacteffects/ is great fun if you've got time to kill.
