A few would be OK, but keep in mind that one of the reasons for these challenges is to give people the experience of what it is like to make a map that has been commissioned by an author or publisher. In some cases they only have a general idea of what they want and are waiting to see what you come up with. In other cases, they will be very specific, they know exactly what they want, they just want you to make it look great. This scenario would fall in the middle of those extremes. The challenge is to make a map that is exactly this land mass with specific locations already marked and the rest is open to creativity. So, short answer is Yes as long as these extra islands don't become the focus of the map.

That's sounds like a fair response Bogie. I like the idea of keeping it as close as possible for myself, minor changes though can add a little character. I was pleasantly surprised when I looked at Waldronate's map and he had it rotated 90˚. I can see a few spots where some minor islands would look more natural.

If I hadn't rotated it, it wouldn't have looked quite so much like a defective dragon hatchling. I seriously considered adding an island for a tongue. And I'm still a few lakes short, too. Details add up!

Thanks Bogie, in that case, I'm in - I think a nautical chart of a relatively small scale island - maybe 10-20 miles long...

Mr. Bogues! Once again, you've outdone yourself! I adore this challenge! I love the challenge, love the shape... heck! I even love those green dots!

Speaking of that shape, I kept looking at it and looking at it and couldn't help but think it seemed vertically "stretched". So, if we change the aspect somewhat, how would that make you feel?
To give you a better idea, here's a side by side of what I'm talking about...

I was thinking chess knight or sea horse.

I might to try jumping on this one. Just don't want to distract myself from my Western Kingdoms project.

I would say that is a reasonable amount of change. The land mass shape is still recognizable, any more extensive change would be an issue.
However, as we have said before, the Voters make the final decision with their votes.

Excellent! Glad to hear it, sir, and glad to have a new project to keep me off the streets and out of trouble. ;-)

WOW you guys, Wow! 19 entries, this might be the biggest lite challenge yet! And really amazing quality!

I will be traveling for the rest of the week so I will only be online a little bit here and there. I will be back in plenty of time to close this out next Wednesday night. you still have 9 days to finish but a lot of your maps are looking almost done!
