My votes went to Isle of Queensryche as just all-around well-done, looking like a book I'd likely take home with me from the used book store, even though I shouldn't be buying more books (but look at the MAP!), and the Kingdom of Musicaa, taken over the top by the magnificent book cover and greatness that is the Osbourne Horns.

Still, I'd give honorable mention to Escape from Alphaville. This map certainly had the most creative use of names and is very amusing to look over. I could not rank it with the entries I gave my votes to because of the aesthetics. The design has several issues, the most serious of which is that the back cover blurb is nigh unreadable in spots. Another is the "publisher's logo" appears to have been placed badly off-center on the spine. As an execution of the use of musician/band names part of the challenge, I think this is easily the best example, but that the quality of the map as a piece of cartographic art and the execution of the book cover part of the challenge were not competitive. Even these were not without some highlights, and I do like both the weird spacescape seen through the shattered map on the front and the somewhat starry circuit board border. If the same creativity gets meshed with a little more attention to making the whole thing pretty, I see compasses in ScottDA's future.

To all the entrants, congratulations, you made a cool map.

Congratulations and thank you to everyone who got an entry in for the Lite Challenge this month. To a one, I found them to be entertaining, inventive and well made.
I too made a valiant effort to get an entry together. In the end, I just couldn't get enough done on it to even start a thread. I was very glad to see that others had far more luck and want to wish you all a 'job well done!'

As always, many thanks, props, high-fives and fist bumps to the Big Man himself, Mr. Bogues, for all his hard work maintaining the Lite Challenge.

    Congratulations!!

To the guy whose name I'm certainly mispronouncing in my head every time I see it:
    aeshnidae
    (Attempts have included: AY-shnid-ay, aysh-NY-day, ay-SHNIDE, etc. )

    Edited to add:
There is no amount of praise too much for Herr Bogermeister!

Wow! Holy crap, I won! I thought for sure that Weery was going to take the prize. And sadly I didn't even get to vote - we've been having massively heavy rains in the DC area so my last 2 days have been spent bailing out my basement while also dealing with a major work emergency, and with only sporadic internet access. Weery, you were going to get my vote for sure, and I was trying to decide how to cast my 2nd vote. I was hoping to get to voting last night and just could not get a combo of acceptable flood levels and functioning internet access.

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who voted for my entry and for all the kind words about it! The feedback here has really been invaluable in helping me improve my mapping skills.

LOL! It's "ash-nih-day," at least with my Baltimore accent. It's the name of a family of dragonflies.

And yes, a big thank you to Bogie for running the lite challenges!

Thanks J.Edward! I'm glad there are others out there who appreciate some old school metal.

And just we can all feel old, Operation Mindcrime was released THIRTY years ago! :O
