Awesome work Jax! Love your painterly style here and the claw is really cool indeed. Looking forward to see it unfold.

You are correct, I'll likely change coloration a lot by the end but dirt comes first

Thanks. I've got to work on it some more, it's not quite right yet, hope I can do what I want with it. One of the requirements is a border so I'm still chewing on how I'm going to integrate the claw into that. Tbh, not sure yet but that's part of the fun. I don't do a lot of borders usually so that's a task. I like how some folks do their entire birder before they start mapping but they usually are an after though for me.

Thanks a lot. I guess like a lot of us, as I'm going along I'm looking at it and thinking, "this is going to suck! " so i appreciate the encouragement.

That looks great Jax. Loving it so far.

And like Bogie I really dig the claws.

Spent more time on this working on placing more of the terraced areas. Added clouds along the top. I still have to do a lot to connect everything together. I may want to smooth out more of the texture but I'll wait and see how ti looks tomorrow.

It already looks great, love the shading tones , feels realistic. How big is the final image?

Glad you like it so far because you are the only one that matters after all. Please let me know if along the way you see any direction you would like followed or abandoned. I'll be giving some more love to the claw since to me it still looks a bit flat. I have an idea beyond that but we'll see how that goes. I'm still concerned about getting done on time just because I'm going to loose the last week in travel. I'll be doing lots of nights between now and then on this.

Thanks and that's a good question. It sort of depends on how much time I spend rendering I guess. The image here is 25% the size of what I'm working in. I would probably shoot for 50% so that would be twice what this image is. If I where to upload the size I'm working in that would show more of the brush strokes which I know some folks enjoy seeing. Maybe I'll do that on the next one just so folks can see....it is of course a massive sized file so there is that issue.

Jax, this looks amazing. I LOVE the colors you're using for the water.

LOL, well that's scary since it's basically a place holder and I haven't been looking at it. I should be working on water pretty soon so hopefully it will still work out. I have quite a bit to do for the falls.

This one is 50% the size of my original.

I may not be able to get much done on this for a few days as I've got work and other stuff to take care of but we will see. I really need to do some every day or I may be in trouble.

The last thing I did was trees and I'm not sure if they work or not. I'll have to take a break and use fresh eyes.

Got another night into this...helps having an audio program to listen to while I'm working.

Mostly just small modifications to the land to make it more real in shape and feel, messed about here and there on the cliffs. Sort of finished off the coast that heads up towards the NE corner and added more clouds built up over there.
Touched up the claw a bit, darkened the Evil land area around the claw and showed a bit of fire peaking out thru the cracks beneath.
I fiddled with the rivers a bit in preparation for starting on them. Fiddling included changing one of the rivers (the second one from the left along the coast) to flow in a way that made more sense to me and allowed the addition of more waterfall action.
Also reduced some of the grassland areas to show a bit more dirt so it's a bit more natural.

To do: Ocean, coastal beach areas, RIVERS and falls, civilizations and roads, complete a border <-- unless Ramah meant he wants the country border indicated (have to go back and check the document).

Anything else I'll have to figure out as I'm doing it.

    +12 h ?
Ifeel you too , lol that style painting requires lot of work an paint over several times on the same areas. My only criticism is about sea ... I would invert colors , darken the outer sea and lighten the coastal areas.... everything else looks gorgeous ... I feel we have a similar approach to map paint even if styles are differing on the specific ones.
