I apologize for the low quality, the full res is too large.
I'm conflicted about the jungles, they look too blurry to me, and it's hard to see some of the rivers (The rivers are on a layer above the forests)

Maybe save a section at full res, it's hard to really make any comments to your question about being blurry with low res

It's not too much of a difference. Take a look

/drool mountains! Great work on those...by some comments, seems you're always spot on with them.

I like the forest blurriness...gives a sense of not knowing exactly where their boundaries are. The problem though, is that it goes directly against the sharpness of your mountain ranges and coastline...

    The mountains are spectacular.

I can't agree with the blurriness, though. It gives me headaches just looking at it too long. The whole map could use more sharpness/focus in my opinion (that includes the mountains).

@TK. Thank you! I spent a lot of time on the mountains as for the coastline, I completely forgot that I haven't redone it to fit in more, I really should get around to doing that.

@Eilathen Thank you again, and the blurriness for the forests is a problem I have, it's because of the brush I used, when scaled down so much it becomes very blurry. The pine forests look very good comparatively, but not the deciduous and definitely not the jungle. I need to find something better

Edit: Oddly enough, if I apply a sharpen filter to everything, it actually does look better. Imagine that

I know it has been a very long time since I last posted on this, in fact I think almost a year after my last post - but I've returned working on it finally and have reworked the mountains and the sort of 'style' i'm using as I was not pleased with the last iteration.

    The comparisons are as follows:
    Old

(I have not yet finished detailing all of the mountains yet, so please forgive the discrepancy)
And then the heavy WIP shading / colouring i'm doing for the mountains, the colors themselves are very much wip as well.

And a little color edit for fun.

My problem thus far is that while I very much do like the style of the mountains and the way they look, they would clash with a normally coloured map and to make the style feel cohesive I would have to apply a darker and slightly redish tone to most things, or something similar.
Advice would be very much appreciated.

Glad to see you working on this again ! I do prefer the new mountains, they are gorgeous. I'd prefer the redish color for the mountains, but hey, you could use the blue one for polar or arctic regions.

Well, I actually prefer the old mountains, if only for their more "ridgy-er" feel. The new ones add a lot more detail, though. Also, it's gonna be an awful lot of work.

I tried similar styles for one of my maps and ended up using a mx of both. The ridges in the middle and a few single peaks and hills around them. Worked quite well. Although I guess you wouldn't want to change it yet again.

Looking forward to seeing how this'll turn out!

After a bit of hiatus I have finally gotten rid of enough school work and actual work to work on it, and have just finished all of the mountains.
Next, I need to fix up the land, find out how I'm going to paint and shade these, and work on the guild city map
