Yep, it's looking great Josiah!
NICE! the line work and shading is already looking good. Interested to see how you finish the fields.
Yep, it's looking great Josiah!
The worst part of Cartography...Learning your own style and knowing when to stop working on a map.
I think the current map is a desirable style..
It tells a complete story without being over crowded. It tells a complete story without further defining.

Thanks Wolram!
Thanks to you as well!
I wouldn't say the worst, I think finding my own style is fun!
But yeah, knowing when to stop and how much detail to put into it. I'm too much of a amateur to completely plan a map, I work through it and I learn, redo, and finally finish it. I wasn't planning to have so much detail in this map, but that's how it turned out!
So, completed shading and now got a small start on colour, did the cliffs quick and playing around with the grass currently.
I've also tried something with the fields, not sure about it... what do you think?

Comments or critique?
Looking good Josiah! Very detailed. The roads look really good. The linework on the buildings appears a bit too accurate though. I'd recommend tracing over these lines on a new layer, and trying to vary the line width a bit more. This ought to make them appear much more natural. Otherwise great work.

Aw, the sheepsies! And are those sheepdogs?
Very pretty, I like the shadowing but it seems a tiny bit inconsistent around the houses, I guess cos they are only one storey so not much shadowing?
Thanks Arsheesh.
Yes, I used the line tool for that, it would be a good idea to trace over. Thanks for the suggestion.
Yep, sheepsies, and sheepdogs! I'm glad the animals are recognizable.
In what way inconsistent?
Looking at them again I think they could use a little more shadows.
And yes, they're all simple one story farm houses.
This is what I call an ever redrawing journey! I never did a serious city or village map. I will be sure to study this discussion. I think you did an EXCELLENT job on adjusting your map to the critics and comments.
Arsheesh, do you think this looks better?
I did a few buildings, but I don't know, do you think the line is too wiggly now? I find it kinda hard to draw a near absolute straight line with the tablet.
