So I changed the path of the train so it is a little less fractal and more smooth. I also made it fade, with the place where it stopped being the strongest and the place where it began being the most faded.

    I hope you like it.

What a great take on the challenge! Really clever and humorous. Well executed too. I just wonder whether it might be worth seeing what the path looks like as a railway track rather than the yellow line. Might get lost in the background though.

Thanks Ravells! It probably would get lost in the background as it is pretty dark. It's supposed to give the feeling that the lights have already been turned out and all that is left is the magic train tracks the boy created in his mind when he was playing with the train. It sort of gives the image (to me at least) of the movie "The Polar Express", where often you would see the train moving along in the dark and all that could be seen was the light emanating from the windows...a yellow line

The track does look better now that you've smoothed it out and rounded off the corners, yet I see what the others are saying about trying to do something more with it. It's easy to figure out what's going on when you explain it, but if someone glanced at the map without reading the thread, they probably wouldn't appreciate what you're doing and see only, well, a yellow line.

I think it's the fact that the room is still relatively bright. If it were darker you'd understand the metaphorical glow of a moving train, but it feels too well lit to have that effect. Not sure if it's possible to dim the room and perhaps only have a lamp or two to illuminate it, along with the bright yellow line? Only a suggestion and completely understand that you might not want to go down that rabbit hole!

Thanks Chickpea. That's fair. I've got a while before this challenge ends so I think I can play around with the effects and see what I can come up with. I'm considering drawing in some railroad tiles on the line so it at least looks somewhat like a track. Or maybe a twin line next to the first one at the same width as the train. Or maybe thinning down the line and making it two lines and some railroad ties. I'll have a go at each and see how they look. And thanks again everyone for your kind suggestions and help

    Cheers

Awesome!! I would have never thought of that.. so clever.

Reminds me of when I was younger and made super long tracks around the basement with my brothers with the giant bin of wooden toy train tracks. That was fun.

Great I agree with Ravells and Chickpea though and would try a railtrack instead of the yellow line.

I've updated the map so it actually has train tracks now

Nice Crayon feel on the tracks there.
It is a very creative solution of the Challenge-topic!
