Thanks a lot Storm About the title, that "lost in the water effect" is what I was after so, I guess I'll leave it that way, sorry. I may even label the map that way, dunno if that'll work well for legibility (probably not) but I'd like to try.

Anyways, I guess the only thing that's missing is the labeling. What do you say fellows ?

Thanks to both of you And thanks for the effort in french Bogie I'll take a rested look at the map and add some little features (need to lift those forests from the ground with a cast shadow) then labels (art material oriented I guess) and it'll be done, I'll be free to shade a bu++load of mountains on my two other WIPs.

I redid the forests that wasn't to my liking and opposite to the rest of the shading ... silly me.

Fantastic work, ThomasR. I love the way you shaded the water as it comes in to the coastline.

I think it's interesting how the rivers look while they're out in the plains - that's the only physical feature that you didn't incorporate linework into. They are just color and a subtle topographic shading. That really gives the impression of low-lying areas of the island outside the mountain chains. But I can still trace the rivers' paths up through the forests. I think I'm going to have to remember how you did this river/forest interface!

Thanks a lot jshoer I wanted a Caribbean feeling for this island (ok for all my islands these days).

About the rivers I wanted them with color. I had to redraw them then erase the black ones so, exit linework. The canopy covered rivers are a thing I love. Snodsy and Abu Lafia told me they looked bit like a stitched scar and they're right but I like them. I saw them the first time on Tanaephis's map by Dain which is a beauty BTW. I applied the same shading to the canopy to get this valley feel (overlay layer, soft brush at 10% with a large stroke at first and a closer and thinner stroke on top).

Looks really great, and I agree with jshoer about the rivers.

    Thank you Bogie and Mouse

I've decided the map will remain unlabeled so, I'm gonna call it finished. it was a pretty fun challenge, thanks Bogie
