Yeah, I'm with Ilanthar on that, the texture is a bit coarse for the map - but looking very nice without it

Okay, here is the finished version:

I decided to do it in shade, as it hasn't failed me before. Sorry I ignored your advice, Diamond, but by the time I heard back from you I had already shaded the whole map, I guess a should have been more patient . It was an honest attempt, though perhaps not a winner. It was an honor to participate! Should I also post this under finished maps?
Note: I got the full scan by scanning half the map first, the other half second, then editing them both together.
Nicely done
I think (only if you don't get mad at me for suggesting this now after all the trouble you've taken to scan it in and stitch it together) it might help to make the border around the map and the border around the inset map a little more prominent - to separate the two maps?
You could do it in GIMP to save a bit of time
We usually put our challenge maps in the Finished Map forum once the challenge is finished
I see you're right about the border, and I didn't want to fix it by hand and have to re-scan it. Luckily, I live in an age with computers. Here's what it looks like with the bigger borders. Now I think I can say I'm done. Thanks!

This is looking wonderful!
***Don't forget to put the WIP tag in above your final picture!***
Looking great, Evan
Hey LordCartoart, I edited your post to fix the Latest WIP tag as your map wasn't showing in the thumbnail gallery. I think you'd missed the spaces between the hash marks and the words.
There's a button for this on the toolbar just above the comment box. It's second from the end on the right-hand side. It says WIP in yellow. If you click that, it'll enter the tag for you.
PS map's looking good!

Thanks to all who replied and thanks for fixing that tag.
I think it looks fine this way too, LC. It's got a true old school vibe to it.
