This will be great. Honestly the view I prefer is the one you had in the very first post. But given that you have a model you could actually include more than one view, it does mean more painting though.
This is looking great, I'd prefer the bottom one, I think? I think is shows a little more detail on the main elements, but I like the top one as well so either one works.
I watched a couple videos on saving the files and followed the advice of saving two main jpeg files - one with shadows only and one with edges (profile at 1 - if you click off profile you loose some curve detail and profile 2 just seemed too dark for me)
Cannt wait to see this evolve and as Francissimo stated the sandbox work is really really nice, great job.

I'm still kind of stuck on the first one, but that might be because I really liked it the first time I saw it. Maybe if you change the angle of the light so the shadows are in the opposite direction the important detail would be better lit?

Thanks everyone!
@Francissimo & Snodsy : haha, the funny thing is that I didn't used the Sandbox tool. It often paralyse my software and I'm not so good at using it. I found it quite easier to do it "manually"... I used the profile but missed your comment Snodsy. Well, I suppose I have "2" and I will see if I can work it out.
@Mouse : I can't put the light in the opposite way (or I don't know how to do it), but I changed the hour to 11h05. I think it's better.
OK, I opted for the first view then.

And a view from the top of the "low" side, just for the fun.

Ah! I clearly don't know how the software works.
I thought it would be possible to rotate the scene relative to the sun if the sun could not be placed in an artificial position - a bit like you can in software like Vue, or Blender.
My bad! Sorry! LOL!

In fact, you're right . I thought about it, and it's possible if I rotate everything by 180°. So, here it is (at 13h30 again). Better?By Mouse

Could you explain how you do it? I don't find any choice concerning "profile" for the edges.By Snodsy
one with edges (profile at 1 - if you click off profile you loose some curve detail and profile 2 just seemed too dark for me)
And I will use png file with transparancy. I find it easier to manage the waters.
OK, now, I'll probably do the Krita/drawing work.
And for the curious : a closer view of the siege machines (probably too detailed, notably for the ballistas).

I think that's probably the best shadow direction - but that's only what I think
Those close ups are gorgeous. Maybe if there is space for them you could include them or similar as insets?

Amazing sketch ! It so good to see how you master this architecture tools. Waiting impatiently your next update.
Can you work the close ups into detail callouts, they're awesome! I like the rotation.

This is what I did before I brought in the jpegs as a Layer (Multiple) in photoshop for coloring and more drawing.
SKETCHUP/Styles/Edit/
Under STYLES/EDIT there are 5 boxes. The first one - Edge - check Edges/Profiles (1) others leave unchecked - this gives you all edges nice black stroke.
The other boxes - 5th - turn off guides/axis
3rd Box - Background I turn background white and uncheck Sky/Ground - the white background goes clear on Multiple in Photoshop Layer.
Hope this helps.
