I like the lighter/brighter version better, only because it's easier to make out all the little details. I do prefer the 'feel' of the darker one though.

I personally like the brighter one better.

I'm with Diamond and Matthew, but I think the scale bar would look better if it was the same colour as the border and text

The darker grey one has a more somber feel to it and fits with the coastline map. Hope that helps!

Totally agree with Diamond on this front. I always end up making my maps too dark, because I prefer darker palettes in general, but I think the slightly lighter one makes the details pop out more so I'd go for that one.

Thanks guys, I'm calling this finished unless someone sees something in need of fixing. Thanks again for making this better with your comments.NewEnglandHarbor7.jpg

    Looks fantastic Snodsy!

Only thing I just noticed is that the compass rose doesn't quite line up with the rhumbs. Though unfortunately because rhumb lines are always a right pain, it doesn't look like it going to be a easy shift.

It's only small though, so you can probably ignore it if you want.

This map looks great, snodsy! Only nitpick would be the Marblehead Bay label, which is over the border of the map. Also the rhumblines seem a little groovy under the compass, but that's only when zoomed in. Great work, though!
