    Thanks very much Max!

Edit: Though somehow a quotation mark worked its way in there

Here's me testing out the file size and quality if I go double-or-nothing

I really love the amount of info you've packed into this; great job.

    Thanks for the comment, Diamond!

I'm finally back with another update. I've decided I will try to go double-or-nothing, even though time is almost up. The good news is that I've just now completed what I believe to be the hardest part (moving things about and formatting).

I'm really tired and didn't want to go through the process of downloading as a PDF, converting to a JPEG, and then resizing, but I did. Google Drawings sucks in that regard.

Anyways, will have to fill in more text (the GREAT wall of text) and actually do some cartography next. Stay tuned, and keep the lovely advice coming.

(I haven't forgotten about making the labels bigger!)

Here's another update. I've gotten all the details in (coastline, mountains, rivers, grasslands, swamps...) and I think all that is left is to add color and then fill in more text details. Then of course correct the 1000s of typos that must be hidden throughout the map. That will be fun.

I actually laughed after writing "The Kearst Republic". It's not that funny, but does anyone else get it? (I ended up including the joke in the description).

Comments & critiques appreciated. Hopefully there's less "fuzz" in this one.

Oh, NOW I get what you meant by double or nothing. You are nothing if not ambitious! This is turning out quite nicely.

Here's another update... some color has been added, and I finally fixed the labels. I think it looks better, but please let me know what you think.

The labels look better, although personally, I'd double their size again. Overall, I really like this map. You do the atlas approach well. It's very heavy on text, but the text is nicely segmented into discrete blocks for each feature. There was already plenty of detail in this image, and I'm particularly impressed that you're doubling the map's size so late in the challenge. I'm guessing that you'll have your hands full just filling in the description sections, but if you have the time, I think your map could be improved by having more variety in those city icons, especially in the bottom half. I'm hoping that most of those icons are placeholders, because the variety you have in the top is a nice feature.
