Wow I've read a lot of interesting things here!! great post, but I need to read all again because I'm not a native speaker
I need to do some research on payment/taxes because I'm from Europe too (and I'm a little "noob" on this side) but so far I'm definitely interested!!

So I have turned on the marketplace, and it's now working. It is very much like a self-contained ebay type system. The only real advantage I can see is that it handles payment and logs transactions and such on their side. They collect a percentage (6.9% + 2.9% for payment processing) and split the non-processing revenue 50/50 with the guild.

At this point you guys are welcomed to try it out if you have something you want to attempt to list. Please post your questions or concerns here in this thread. And I'll try and get everything answered!

If this looks like it's going to be of interest as is, I'll start working on a digital distribution solution as soon as possible.

Well, one obvious question, or perhaps not so obvious...payments to the cartographers whose artwork is purchased? How would that be handled? Obviously the guild receives its part as the host( and just think of the revenues generated for the site!), but the artists need to receive payments too, so how do we make sure that the artists are able to receive their part of the payments made?

You as the artist would list your map for sale...Then a user will buy that map through panjo. Panjo will then subtract their percentage and pay you immediately as far as I can tell. I will get my percentage in a quarterly payout.

I've created a sticky in the buy sell forum. It will get updated sushi discover things. I just learned about multiple quantity items which will fit most digital sales. Ask any further questions in that sticky threads to keep things on topic.

I would be interested too! I'm actually considering (again) to do some commissions to increase a bit (or replace some of) my incomes. And, it would even be better if it could benefits to the guild as well!

Nice...now if I can ever get prolific as I need to be I might accomplish something. I may not have understood the breakdown but it's either the artist gets around 90% of the sale, or somewhere around 45%?

This is a shot of the breakdown of costs and profit on a 50 cent trial. The minimum price you are actually permitted to use is $1.

The market place contribution is a percentage and would rise with the price. I believe the Payment Processing is more of a fixed price than a percentage (though I might be wrong).

You would get the rest - in this case, with such a tiny price, you would only get $16.

EDIT: Of course, what we really need to try this thing out properly is for someone to put something really cool up for sale

Oh right - I was with Jax, I thought it was Sale less about 10% fees then the rest is split 50:50. Ok so its the 10% or so that is the bit that is split then. I was quite happy at 50:50 but then I would only be doing it to gen funds for the server anyway.

Edit - yeah I might put some copies of ViewingDale up at what $5 ? and see if anyone is interested. I have a lot of interesting apps I have written which have never been for sale. Anyone think my Spatial Filter is worth buying ? My texture shader which I do all my maps with is very cool. Anyone use HF2 and want converters or other tools. Sadly I'd still not put GTS up cos that is so hard to use. Lots of options tho.
