Yeah, I agree with you. The client said that the city is only around 20 years old, and it was a planned city wih straight streets, plazas and parks. But still, it doesn't look -real- with that abrupt end, so I guess I'll change it anyway.

    Update!

Here I have made a small forest/park with an arena. Worked some more on the eastern part of the city, adding more house and making the transition to the farmlands more smooth. Also, I have created the walled district of Kadizar, that is the old remains of the barbarians that held the city before it was conquered.

Still looking really good. I like the arena and forest a lot. The city shape is a bit unrealistic/weird, but as that's down to the client's wishes it has no bearing on the beauty of your artwork.

My first impression was that a lot of Ents were eager to see whatever was showing in the theater!

    Hey!

This time I have put some work on the farmlands east of the city. I have also added a fort on an island in the river. I've done more work on the houses, the water, adding more boats, and finally some tweaking with textures and colors.
    What do you think?

I like your map. It's good looking and using Sketchup for a good perspective is a great idea.
Those houses in the farmland look similar to the city houses. I'd rather expect some farmhouses, some barns and stables and such stuff for agricultural economy. The houses at the edge of the city are right to look like city houses as its the area where the city will expand next. About the farmhouses I only refer to the ones directly placed between the fields.

The water looks good and I like the castle which somehow looks a bit English in style to me. I wonder if the river should be broader where it flows around the island for the water masses have to get around the obstacle and therefor expand on cost of the river banks.

This is really coming along nicely, I'd like to know how long you've spent on this once your done? The client is definitely getting their money's worth on this one. Beautiful job!

There we go, well - I am back with this one, definately the most tedious map I've worked on. It's near complete, but "Järnringen" is going to handle text and numbers. Suppose I'll move it to "Finished" when that's done. I still have some details I want to add though!
