Mouse your comment about black paint made me think of this:

damonjynx I've seen The Castle, quite a few years ago though. I also have Malcom, another Aussie classic
Anyway what's that line on the left hand side of the right hand map? It extends beyond the parchment. Is that intentional?

I positively feel like a whippersnapper in this thread I waited until the 60s were done before I popped out.

The overall feeling is great, I'd just use a larger font or maybe some color for the text. On my 13' it doesn't show well.

@Straf, that line was definitely not intentional!

@Thomrey, I increased the small text on the maps and used a light overlay to hopefully bring out the text a bit without it being too...garish?

    You did good

I'll explain cold and warm whites another time, but what you did solved the problem anyway

Thanks Mouse, So it's all to do with colour theory then, definitely something I'll need to brush up on.

I like this darker version a lot better.

Thanks Bogie, Thomrey. Some stiff competition with this challenge, as usual. Whoever wins the silver compass will have definitely earned it.

Some lovely touches on these two maps! Cool to see the burned effects and I like the mountain style you went for too.

Certainly not a place you want to venture for too long or too far!

If you do decide to revisit it before the end, you could try adding a few detail lines inside the cave map to add a bit more texture to the floor. Otherwise, it's looking nice Jim and your maps are definitely coming on a lot!

Thanks Greg, looking forward to seeing yours progress, it looks very promising and that background is REALLY good.

I think, due to the lack of a graphics tablet, I might stick to hand drawn/scanned maps for a bit and just shade/colour digitally. You obviously don't need a tablet to draw maps completely digitally but it bloody well helps, particularly with non-geometric shapes, i.e caverns etc!
