The decorations are nice, but I now feel a bit uncomfortable with the highlights on the two different frames.

I can't seem to reconcile which direction the lighting is coming from, but that doesn't necessarily mean its wrong or anything. I have an atypical mind and I see things differently to the way other people see them

Edit: I'm enjoying the story already Do they ever get out of this aggressive parallel?

I was in a crabby mood yesterday, Diamond. What I said came out all wrong!

The frames really are beautiful, and now I'm not so tired they've done that sssssnAP thing and they look perfectly ok to me now.

    Sorry!

I'm not sure I like them (the deco elements). I might try the same design, just in outline form, with no gold, etc. Or maybe even just as semi-opaque designs that sit behind everything else. I dunno. Still got time to experiment though - all the hard stuff is done!

Yeah, I'd try that Diamond and see how it looks. The gold is just a little too much. Otherwise nice update Diamond and I'm liking the look of the text inserts at the side, it's a really nice composition.

The map itself looks great, you're shaded relief is beautiful as always, you seem to have a way of piecing it together like no one else can, and this coast line is great. Did you use some magic technique to get the coast to look so perfectly varied or did you just do it by hand? I have to nit pick on this border tho, I really feel like it doesn't suit the map, and I really like the font you chose For the actual map, but I'm not a fan of the border font, I just don't think it looks right with this style of map.

Hey, Diamond. A great map you have there. I love the way you tell a story through the map, especially because I can really imagine people visiting a museum and viewing the map, discussing the wondrous fate of that ship. Amazing idea!

Also, the names are great, invoking a sense of 'wanting to be there and see that world'.

Okay, try this on for size and see if you like it a little better. Only thing left to do really is finish those call-out boxes. Should be done late tomorrow evening...

Oh no! You can't tell me the end of the story before all the middle bits. I can't open it now till its all filled out!
