Thats what I thought. I guess trees are going to be a bit scarce in this desert like terrain. So I doubt they could even muster enough for a pallisade. In fact its reminded me that the style of building may be dictated from the availability or lack thereof from materials like wood.

In the case of using J.E's posted image for your sector, scale it to whatever you are comfortable working with and forget about the DPI until you want it printed.
That's the same as doubling the size of the paper and keeping it at 300 dpi. Either way will do the same thing as far as making work easier

I missed a bit somewhere. Are we in a desert?

Yeah, I missed any climate discussion that may have occurred. Also, I am a bit dense, it appears - can I take it that one grid square equals five feet?

    Yes - or 1.5 metres

Bah, metrics. Pffft. It's funny, though: I use millimeter measurements at my job on a daily basis.

The UK went metric when I was 8 years old, so I'm bi-unit...

Oh dear. That sounds a bit odd, but you know what I mean

For the sun to be at that angle at 11am then for an earth like planet I'd say we're somewhere around 30° south of the equator. Is that about right?

    Ummmm......

Is that like one of those University Challenge questions?

    EDIT: Tropic of Capricorn?

Well, I'm not sure, since I haven't looked at the Guildworld map just recently, but I think we're more like 15 degrees south, but I also think we may be more worried about synchronising shadow angle and length between plots.

EDIT 2: CC3 mappers - if you're lost as to how to set up the global sun to mimic the PS arrow thingy - I've pasted a copy of my own settings in the Main Index thread just below John's arrow.

This is a judgement-free zone. You go with your bi-unit self!
