I do not have this Xtras Menu nor the land option to make a map in such a way, but i am very interested in this height map script. This is right up my alley. Wellp Back To The Gimp Registry (which is how i found this forum )

Sorry to dig this thread up from the grave, but this is correct. It's File>Create>Patterns>Land

Or, if you desire a non 3d-ish map, Patterns>Flatland

Also shown are the settings I used for the generated images, only changing the seed.

Note that these create an image, nothing needs to be done first. I (creatively) used seeds 0, 1, and 2 respectively.

Now to modify/extend this to draw outlines as well!
I like the look of this idea, but I can't find it in the menus to even try it out. I'm still new to GIMP. My menu doesn't look like the one displayed. Do you know if they moved it into a submenu?
    Thanks in advance

Yuppers, in Gimp 2.8 it is under File>>Create>>Patterns. Posted below is an example at max detail and 2000x2000 px. This is the Flatland pattern

Default In Gimp 2.10 it doesn't seem to work

Normally I try NOT to revive old threads, but.....
I'm working with Gimp 2.10 and I can't seem to find this option anywhere. Was it removed in later versions, or do I need to install something to get it to work?

    Thanks for the help!

I couldn't tell you about Gimp but you can definitely render similar kinds of instant maps with other programs, such as Filter Forge.

Default part of create submenu is missing

I may have found the reason why I can find it. Part of the create submenu seems to be missing in my GIMP2.10.30 installation.
I only have the default options (clipboard, webpage, scanner, screenshot), not the script-fu options (buttons, logo, new brush, patterns, webpage themes)

Does anyone happen to know how I can solve this issue?

    ETA: extra info:
The menu on a windows GIMP installation (2.10.30) should look like this:
    create_win.png

But for me, I only have the top four options:

as i recall script-foo is being replaced by python in gimp 2.10 and 3.0
you can still manually make land / ocean gradient colored noise maps
