    Thanks everyone!

Are you going to have a go at rendering it that way, or go the way of finishing it by hand?
I'm gonna use the top view as a basis for the main map. I will redraw lines and details but use the shadows and basis from sketchup.
I will probably do the same with different views, to illustrate, in the frame.

great job for the roofs: not easy, these round roofs in sketchup
Yup, I learned a few more things about SK and how to do things, I must say.

I added 2 "sculptures" and a fountain, plus another cristal on the Exiles Palace main roof.
The fountain and the "sun" sculpture of the Esplanades.

The Exiles Royal Place with its own "cristal scultpure".

I love all those bridges on the shuk. Very cool. Multi layer cities are just about the coolest thing.

    Those sculptures look great

I can't wait to see this with more organic lines and your lovely subtle shading and colours!

Is there a reason you are showing the main top down view upside down?

    Looking good... lokking MIGHTY GOOD.

I think it's a great idea to model the sections in simple 3d. I wish I had the time to deal with the learning curve...

It's exciting (again) to wonder how the sum of all these amazing parts will be. Keep at it, Ilanthar, we're getting there

    Thanks guys!

I've started to work a little on the details with Krita (near the bridge).

It's really neat to see you're 3D maps transform into a hand drawn style, very inspiring work.

As mentioned by ThomasR and Kacey : the technique of work is full of lessons and it seems very effective. Are you going to rework the shadows after finishing the lines by hand?

Oh thank you, Ilanthar. You've just given me a brilliant Idea

That's an excellent method to make something that already looks beautiful (the way you've done it anyway).

Would you mind very much if I copied the technique, only using a CC3 or Blender layout to generate the outlines and shading for my GIMP buildings, instead of Sketchup?
