    Latest progress, the first district is added, and the river is more detailed. Still not happy with that weir.


    That small triangle of houses and streets took about 2 hours to do...this is gonna take forever.

    Although the scale and drawing is very good, there's a problem, I think, with that district; one that might not only improve the map's appearance and realism, but could also save you a lot of time). The problem is that the houses don't seem to have anything behind them: they have a street to the front and a street to the back. By contrast, if you look, say, at medieval English and German towns, they have long narrow plots, where the house occupies the front, and the back is a yard (often used for growing vegetables or as a workspace). Over time, the yards of these kinds of properties get developed (add a house to the rear of the block and rent it out; add another house in the space between, and add a lane to allow access etc). I created a simple diagram a while ago for another thread showing this process. Maybe it will be helpful.
