Your linework is amazing! On the one hand I really like the palm trees - they make the map very unique as well as the wonderful pictograms of the cities. But on the other hand I think the palm trees still look a bit too blurry compared to the rest of the map. I just have the feeling the palm leafs could still be sharper to fit the style of the map better.

What programme are you using to make these nice lines? They look so sharp and clean. I kind of agree with Neyasha about the trees, but at the same time I really like how they look sort of fuzzy, kind of reminds me of the trees in the Lorax which to me suites the line work just right. Will you be adding colour? I really like what you have so far and I think this is the one to beat, it's super cute. Can't wait to see how you finish it off.

Thank you ! I realized I left a duplicate layer of the palm trees visible, hope that they'll look less blurry without it. I have tested several things for the lines (Gimp filters, brushes, etc.) and... I ended up tracing them "by hand" with a very long smooth and taper length ink tool (I use Artrage for this map) and, as for some reason I am completely unable to draw straight horizontal or vertical lines, the possibility to rotate the canvas with Artrage is very appreciable Very time consuming (3 hours for this version), I don't recommend it
I planned to color it with a discret watercolour style and I would like to add some other things (a fancy old-style cartouche, some galleon type ships, waves, sea monsters, a ruler...) but I am afraid I'm gonna run out of time...
    Cheers

This map has grown a lot since I last checked! I really dig those mountains, and the overall map is really gorgeous - even if it's not finished

TY, a fancy title and colors and waves tests. As usual, all criticisms are welcome

Wow Tenia you're really going to town on this! That cartouche is amazing but the progress from the last WIP to now has just brought the whole map into glory

Wow, the colour really changes the way this looks and it's brilliant, great job.

The maps is really impressive. If I had one critic, it would be that the land seems to hover above the seas.

Your map was already one of my favorites for this challenge, and with color it's even better. If I were to give some comments, I'd say that:

    - I agree with Thomas about the hovering, which is visible especially on the thumbnail. I suppose it's caused by the evenness of the water lines, but I don't think it's very easy to fix. However, at full size it's much less pronounced, so I guess it isn't too much of an issue.

    - Maybe you can try to darken the mountains a bit. As they are now, they are quite indistinguishable, especially if you take into account the high contrast between the land and the trees. There must be something else to pop out besides the trees (and the mountains are perfect for that), otherwise it looks like a map about trees.

    - The waves on the water are pretty cool, but again, they are not in "sync" with the rest of the map. They are so pencily and sketcky, while everything else is bold and crisp.

And a question: What is the character after the "me" in "meme" and after the "I" in "Ile"? Is it an old-style representation of the circumflex accent, or just a font issue? Pardon my ignorance, I'm just curious...
