I wasn't at all originally planning to do a no-linework map, but it's just turned out that it doesn't make a huge difference with or without.

Top marks for this map, Josiah!

EDIT: I'll wait till you put it up in finished maps to rep you for it - I get a bit confused as to whether I have or I haven't otherwise! LOL! (I know - poor old mouse!)
    Great! Thanks Mouse!
Heheh. Poor Mouse. Naw, I always wait for the finished map to rep too. It does get confusing.

Really nice city map Josiah! I love the color palette and the general shape!
Just a note, in my opinion the roofs are too blurry compared to the other "man made" elements (piers, bridges, stadium..) I don't understand if it's intentional or an optical effect

    Hey again all!
It's time to finish this map up, I've finally received names for labels from the client.
I've added the labels, but I'm not completely sure about them, what do you think?
Do you like them, are they bad, are they hard to read? Feedback is always helpful!

LOL! I had to go back one and compare the maps before I realised you'd added a huge number of labels - which triggered me to say that I think the labels are perfectly clear (as in legible), but there may not be enough contrast between the colour of the labels and the city itself.

    Paler labels perhaps?

    It looks awesome Josiah.
Will try to post this to FB this week.

Very nice Josiah! I agree with Mouse though, paler labels might be better. Perhaps even some cream-ish white color? Otherwise I think the labels are spot on and the font goes very well with the map!

Can you stop being so awesome? You're making the rest of us look bad! :p

Okay, on a more serious note, that's a really cool city map with lovely colors and a slightly more distant perspective one doesn't see very often. Congrats on the good Job.

Gorgeous map Josiah ! I love the slight blur effect on the buildings (compared to the linework). About the labels, maybe adding a lighter hue outer glow will make them pop more.

Alright! Thank you everyone for the kind comments and feedback. I've played around with the colour of labels a bit and I think it looks much better. Also I replaced the light outer glow around the text with a dark outer glow, which I think also looks a bit better.
Unless something else has to be changed, I think this will basically be the final map. Let me know if you have any other thoughts.

Oh well, that's praise much too high for me. But thank you so much.

Thanks Thomas! That's funny, Tom said he didn't like the blurriness of the buildings. I guess it's all a matter of opinion. What I think about it: what blurriness of the buildings? I didn't add any effect, but I guess that's just the way it ended up looking.
