    Overall its looking really great, and I'm glad to see that you aren't going OTT with the actual colours.

    However, there is a small problem developing.

    Can you see how the paint on the overlying layers is starting to make the lines of the map look greyish in places? The green of the land is colouring the lines of the map so that they are starting to fade out quite a lot.

    Try this for a cure:

    Save your GIMP file, and then save it again under a new name "somethingorother version 3" or whatever, and try duplicating the map layer and moving the duplicate up to the top of the stack of layers, then changing the mode (numbered 1 in the tiny screen shot I gave you above) of that new map layer to "multiply". See if that sorts it out so that the lines go back to being nice and crisp and sharp black.

    The colours you've already set up on the layers below it should shine through the top map layer as good as new, but they won't be colouring the line work any more.

    @ChickPea Thank you

    @Mouse Like this?

    Uh... How do I undo the alpha to selection once I'm finished with it?

    Oh yes, that's much better. Such lovely line work should never be obscured by the shading and the colour

    Any selection you make in a file, no matter what it is, can be instantly removed by clicking Select/None from the menu bar

    Looks like there is an endless opportunity to learn more with Gimp

    I only wish it was more intuitive!

    Never mind - you seem to be making a great start with the app

    Haha it is complicated! Maybe soon I'll open a blank file and mess with everything - it should help me...

    Not sure what I should do now. Guess I should zoom in to nitpick.

    I don't think you need to do a whole lot more to it.

    It looks fairly well finished to me

    And since this is your first Challenge map, take it from me that its very easy to go too far with a map in the final stages just before the deadline. I've seen many a great map get ruined that way! If you feel like this is finished, then its finished
