I think ChickPea is toying with the idea of doing a SciFi one, since we had a pretty good turnout for this one...

    Some of my favs:

    • China Miéville's Ba-Lag series (sometimes called New Crobuzon), in particular The Scar. But they'll all pretty great. I'm a huge Miéville fan.
    • I've been really into Max Gladstone's Craft Sequence, lately. I haven't read them all yet, but book two: Two Serpents Rise has been my favorite so far.
    • Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea books are fantastic.
    • Scott Lynch's Gentleman Bastard series has been enjoyable, in particular the first book, Lies of Locke Lamora.
    • Cherie Priest's Borden Dispatches have been fun.
    • Stepehen King's The Dark Tower series has been a huge influence on my writing.
    • H.P. Lovecraft's work as well.

Nice one ChickPea, you've done a sterling job. Or Stirling as in the university

Not for fantasy. If there's interest, I might try sci-fi next. Haven't quite decided yet.

Oh I could go for Sci-Fi. Definitely have some recommendations for that category. Got some for Urban Fantasy as well. Been re-reading a lot of classics in both lately.
