LOL! It gets even better when you add shadows to the terrain. Then it really is a matter of guesswork

I did some shadows and I also included the possible shadow cast by the northern tower. The shadow is long but the height difference makes it 25% longer.

Palm trees!... It didn't occur to me before... I gotta have some palmtrees in the monastery as well...
Long shadows add life to the map, Azelor, long shadows is good

Ordinary hardwood trees and cypress trees as well?

    Great progress! Brilliant

EDIT: and don't forget that grass usually manages to find a way to grow wherever its not weeded out, even if its sickly and not very green in the dry season

Brilliant work, Azelor. Once again, I'm admiring your tenacity and attention to details.

It's been a month already since the last update!

I'm mostly done with the buildings and the shadows, except for the hillside.

I plan to have some flat roofs but I'm not sure how to proceed so that it look like it's part of the roof and not on ground level.

    Excellent work, Azelor

I really like the way the sublte colours of the rooftops work so well together, and may take heed of that in my new section, rather than sticking with the comparatively bright reds oranges and yellows I used in Atlas Ward.

The whole thing is beautifully drawn.

As for flat rooftops its really a case of letting the shadows do the work. I started using some in my current district, and it was pretty difficult. I think that although CC3 does a brilliant job of automatically shading pitched rooftops, the casting of shadows is a little more awkward. I will need to do the flat roofed shadows in GIMP, I think

    It does look good Azelor
And I agree with Mouse - the shadows are what will make it look right.

Looks super awesome but I think it might be worth lowering the opacity just slightly on the linework of the cobble/flagstones. To give the buildings even more prominence.
My new Deviant-thing. I finally caved.
