Shrink Wrapping to stop image thieves

As a user and images lurker, i like to be able to see a decent resolution of an image, as well as being able to download it. I generally am happy to have a watermark on the downloaded image, and to know that the full-res one is much bigger.
That is especially true for maps: to print them you need a rather good resolution.

For my works - not maps, but i'm a scenery sculptor with a reasonable productivity - i simply add a watermark. I found my pics around more than once, but with the limitations above.

That's an interesting idea, Galendae, but I can't really see how this would work on the forum. I suppose it if was possible it would be great as an option to tickbox on particular maps, like those you just want to get some advice about, and not to publish just yet - the kind of maps that someone else is paying you to keep strictly 'forum only', or the contract would be rendered void

It would work to stop most of the casual thieves who don't know how to get underneath the wrapping.

I think you absolutely have to modify the pixles since thats the only bit that is the valuable bit of the image. Everything else can be stripped off the image. If you can see it in a browser then you can access the image. Somehow it was downloaded and no browser does DRM effectively (and I would not want it to either).
