Thread: Temple of the Snake

    Default Temple of the Snake

    Hi everyone,

Wow, looks like it's been about two years since I've posted a map here! I had to largely step away from map-making beginning in 2020 due to a change in life circumstances brought on by the bug. However I had begun work on a personal battle map project and as time allowed have been chipping away at it little by little. Now, two years later I've finally completed it. Here's the blurb:

Long ago dark rites and human sacrifices were made in the land in the name of an obscene snake god. In the ensuing centuries the jungle reclaimed much of this once formidable civilization. However recently people have begun to go missing in villages near a temple thought long forsaken. There have been sightings of a large slithering terror. Now some believe the cult of the snake god has returned.

Temple of the Snake is a 20"x30" multi-level battlemap of a crumbling jungle temple that is home to a cult of snake worshipers (or snakemen). The map is designed both to be printed out and used at the table and to be used on Roll20 or other VTTs.

I've included a smaller low res image of the ground level along with a gif animation showing how all of the levels and secret shoots and such work together. I've also included some slightly larger image slices as well.

This map is available for purchase over at my shop. I hope you enjoy!

    Cheers,
    -Arsheesh

That's super cool, and very well handled. It makes me want to make something with levels.

Those shadows are super cool. Well-executed and eye-catching.

Glad to see you haven't had to quit mapping completely! I love the colours and shading here. Beautiful work.

This is looking great, it looks like there has been a real attention to detail as all the elements are beautifully drawn and colored.

Thanks. Yes, there was quite a bit of space to cover here, and as I was unconstrained by time I had fun with all the little details.

Glad you like them. I was hoping to evoke a "dusky" feel with the exterior colors.

It's a lot of fun, but also a bit of a challenge to work out all the details.

Not gonna go on and on about things, just gonna say that I dig it. And welcome back.

Love it! The linework is great and I'm very impressed (once again) by your skills for lights and colours!
