Really sorry about the late close, guys. Life got in the way.

So, this month's theme was to map a compound where one could survive during and after a zombie/demon/politician/whatever apocalypse. Some really great entries this month! Thumbnail pics below:

When I saw that the challenge for this month was going to be my zombie apocalypse suggestion, I got really excited and started planning my fortress immediately. Sadly, as so often happens these days, I just didn't have the time to commit to the challenge.

I'm pleased to see such fantastic entries, though. It was tough keeping my vote to only 2 on this occasion. Kudos to everyone for entering and creating such great maps.

It is a shame you didn't get to take part, Wingshaw, but maybe you might draw one anyway?

I will have to think pretty hard about where my three votes are going....

Some really different approaches this month, interesting to see the different directions people went in!

Also interesting is the way that many of the maps became game maps - to the point where I thought I must be missing the point! I even had to go back and check that it wasn't part of the specification just in case I'd done it all wrong

    Difficult.

In the end I had to give in and vote for 4 instead of just 3...

Fascinating how each map went in a completely different direction.

Thank you to people who vote my map!
It was my first approach to challenge here! I put a lot on this map, and I glad to see that you appreciate! I hope I can finish Lite map on time...

This is tough. Going with the old 1 for every 5 entries or fraction thereof rule, so just two picks this time.

Curse all of you who tempt me to work your maps into playable games! There are enough zombie-themed games on the market already.

Well, Tenia's Time to Eat is the leader in that category. A beautifully done traditional hex-and-chit wargame map that suggests both tension and whimsy. (I question the value of the baby as a reinforcement from a gameplay standpoint, but it is thematically wonderful.)

With Veterhaven Fortress, ladiestorm has made me really love a map style I'm not terribly fond of and made fire work as a major static map element, which isn't easy, so that had to be the second map on my voting list.
